APGA National Chairman, Ezeokenwa, Visits Alaba International Market, Commiserates with Victims of the Recent Demolition.

The New National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA), Barr. Ezeokenwa, Sylvester Jnr. has in line with the party's mantra "Be your brother's keeper" (Onye ghana Nwanne ya) stormed Alaba International Market, Lagos in solidarity with victims of the recent demolition of shops and plazas at the Igbo dominated  market.

Barr Ezeokenwa while commiserating with the stakeholders, victims, and the leadership of the International Market, during the visit, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, urged them not to despair, declaring that APGA as a party of the masses feels their pains, especially in these times of economic hardship and will do everything legally possible to find solution to their plight.

He added that as a political party, APGA stands for a better Nigeria, a country where rule of law reigns as the constitution provided, insisting that every Nigerian has rights to live and legally build houses in any part of the country, regretting that the losses which run into billions could have been avoided if the rights of the traders were not trampled upon, regretting that enough notice was not given by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA)  which also ignored ongoing court proceedings on the matter.

The visibly angry National Chairman, argued that it is disheartening to victimize citizens for their political leanings in a democracy, noting that as soon as election is over everybody should be carried along as citizens  rather victimized for their  political affiliations.

He however expressed optimism that such avoidable losses can be prevented in the future, counseling the traders to be law-abiding, resilient and resourceful which Ndi Igbo are known for.

Ezeokenwa announced the backing of the party in getting to the roots of the matter, stressing that he will always be available whenever called in the course of finding solution to the lingering issue, while reiterating that APGA is the party for ordinary Nigerians and will always support the people irrespective of religion, ethnic group and political party affiliation.

He finally commended the leadership of the market for their conduct during this difficult period, urging them to continue to maintain peace and order, as the hope of thousands of traders lies on them.

One of the victims who pleaded anonymity, appealed to the National Chairman to hasten whatever effort they are making in seeing they return to their shops or the alternative, as they have families to feed, warning that an idle man is dangerous to the society.

The APGA delegation on the visit include the National Women Leader, Barr Lizzy Nwokeocha, the National Welfare Secretary, Mrs Rose Imoudu, members of the Lagos State chapter of APGA led by the State Chairman, Chief ThankGod Ibe. Other party stakeholders like Chief Obinna Umeh (Tallest) and Chief Samuel Odinaka Okoli

Present during the visit are stakeholders and leaders of the market including, Chairman Fancy and Furniture Section & President General, Alaba Amalgamated Council of  Sectional Heads, Hon Mbonu Udochukwu Geoffrey, President Electrical Section, Hon Marcel Okezue and President Electronics Section, Hon Camus Amajuoyi.
