The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon Amaka Obi has cautioned residents of the council area against bush burning against this harmattan season.

Hon Amaka gave the warning in an interview with newsmen at the local Government Headquarters, Ojoto.

She opined that people should stop bush burning in the cause of chasing wild animals such as bush rats this season to avoid fire disasters and the consequences.

According to the Council Boss the act of bush burning during harmattan can pose danger to lives, healthy living and property.

She advised the residents of Idemili South, especially the young ones to be wary of how they set fire on bush to hunt for bush meat.

She added that when people burn their refuse, they should ensure that they monitor it, so that the fire does not spread to other places to destroy property or farmlands.
