Anambra Women Affairs Ministry, Takes Delivery of Dignity Kits from UNFPA

The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has taken delivery of Dignity Kits from United Nations Population Funds(UNFPA), following the call from the state government for development partners, charitable organisations and public-spirited individuals to donate toward the needs of victims of flood in the state.

The event which took place on Thursday, November 17, at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare Awka, saw UNFPA hand over about 500 dignity kits to the Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Madam Ify Obinabo as part of the package to respond to the needs of women and girls affected by the flood crisis.

Appreciating the wonderful gesture of UNPAF, Madam Ify Obinabor assured them that the consignments will get to the appropriate persons.

" In as much as some of the flood victims have gone back to their various homes, they went back with nothing so these kits will be of great support to them.

" On behalf of Umunwayi Ndi Anambra, I thank you immensely for this wonderful gesture, just like Oliver Twist we look forward to receiving more interventions from you."

Madam Obinabor further called for proactive measures and readiness towards managing the flood disaster, noting that flooding is a reoccurring natural disaster.
