 Anambra Flags-off Sensitization Campaign Against Fake, Adulterated Products

In its desirous effort to combat fake, adulterated products and ensure originality in Anambra State, the Anti Piracy Society of Nigeria, APSON, in collaboration with Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo and the State's Ministry of Health embarked on sensitization campaign against fake and adulterated products in the State.


The anti piracy campaign which is aimed at combating fake and adulterated products, protection of intellectual property right and promotion of originality was flagged-off on Thursday, 26 June, 2025 at ASUBEB Hall, Awka Anambra State.

Speaking during the flag-off, the Director General of the Anti-Piracy Society of Nigeria, Comrade Frank Uduonu JP. narrated the journey so far in the fight against fake and adulterated products, indicating that with collaboration with Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo the effort will be rewarding for intellectual property owners across the state, urging consumers to speak up whenever they spot fake products, this he assured will lead to consumption of healthy products, adding that the activities of APSON is to educate the masses on the need to insist on purchasing original products by carefully examining label inscriptions.


He regretted the situation where an intellectual property owner or manufacturers of original products will go hungry while individuals who contributed nothing make huge money at the back of efforts of others, he also frowned at the indiscriminate hawking of fake products in every check-point in the state, assuring that with activities of agents of APSON which has offices across the 21 Local Government Area in the State, with kind collaboration of the police and relevant government agencies that it will not be business as usual henceforth.


On his part, the State's Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, eulogized the wife of the Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo for initiating Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, which he emphasized has enlightened our people on the need to live a healthy lifestyle. He assured of the collaboration of his ministry in the fight against fake products especially where it concerns consumables.


Others who spoke in the well attended sensitization campaign include representatives of the State's Ministry of Youth Development, Permanent Secretary from Anambra State Ministry of Land, Barr. Nkiru Mokwe, others are the representatives of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, NSCDC, Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, amongst others


Highlight of the programme was the enlightenment of the general public on their rights as consumers by Barr Uju Amanambo, Head of Legal Services Department of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, and the Demonstration on how to identify fake and adulterated products by Agha Ewa Uchenna Assistance Chief Consumer and Business Education FCCPC South East Zonal office, Awka.
