Idemili South Local Government has flagged off a Health Initiative tagged “Ward–Based Medical Outreach”.

The event, which was the first of its kind in the area, took place at the Council Headquarters Ojoto is in collaboration with the Anambra State Ministry of Health, Idemili South Local Government and Anambra State Primary Health Care  Development Agency.

Over 400  elderly men, women, youths, children and indigent ones turned out to benefit from the free medical outreach who received free testing, blood pressure checks, eye checks, blood sugar checks, HIV testing, free medical drugs and free binoculars and other services. Many of the beneficiaries, who spoke with newsmen, commended Gov Chukwuma Soludo for the wonderful gesture. They also commended the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Hon Amaka Obi for all inclusive style of leadership noting that she braved the odds to reach out to the poor and needy in the town.


In her welcome address, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom said she is excited about the Healthcare Programme which is aimed at providing comprehensive medical treatment for the people in the rural area.

She noted that Healthcare Provision as cited in the People's Manifesto is one of the top Agenda of the Solution Mantra of a prosperous, livable and smart homeland. 


Performing the flag off exercise, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike extolled the effort of Mr Governor, while commending the Council Boss for her Sagacious Leadership Style, selfless disposition with the instrumentality of her organisation.


Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary/ CEO Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, *Pharm Chisom Uchem* said the turn out of the residents was encouraging. She commended the local Government chairman for carrying her subjects along on the laudable healthcare service to her people.


In their respective remarks, the HOD Health Idemili South LGA and the MD, Anambra Health Insurance Agency ably represented by Dr Ifediora Ngozika C. noted that the Programme is aimed is to meet certain health needs of the people and leave an impact in their lives.


In an interview at the treatment center, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ifeoma Ogbu said she is happy seeing something like this. I have seen the medical personnel. They are committed to the work. The state government has actually done well in health delivery services.
