During a security summit held at Dunukofia Local Government Council on Saturday, June 10, 2023 under the leadership of Hon. Onyemaobi Augustine Nonyelum, an important road was renamed after an illustrious son of Dunukofia Kingdom, Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze.


The official ceremony which held at Ogwulugwu layout, Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA Anambra State attracted several dignitaries. During the occasion, Hon. Augustine Nonyelum presented the sign post of the road bearing "Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze Avenue" to Ichie Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze (Ichie Chinemeze N'Ukpo), the Principal Secretary to the Igwe of Ukpo Community who stood in for Prince Arthur Eze. 


The road, a major one, formally known as Ezi Otimgbodomgbo Road starts from the Ukpo Junction to Oyeagu Abagana Junction. The Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government said the action was in recognition of the contributions of Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Ikpechukwu Eze OFR (Ebube Ukpo, Ozoigbondu) to humanity.


Hon. Augustine Nonyelum Onyemaobi presented the sign post of Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze Avenue to Ichie Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze. 


Speaking at the event, Igwe Dr. Chukwuemekalum Ilounoegbunam, Eze Dunu (Igwe of Ifitedunu) requested the Local Government Chairman to immortalize Prince Athur Eze the more, by erecting his statue at the central junction of the road.  Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze (Ichie Chinemeze N'Ukpo) who represented Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze also commended the chairman for his wisdom in renaming the road.


Ichie Nwabueze recounted the efforts of Prince Arthur Eze in the creation of Dunukofia Local Government as well as the siting of the headquarters at Ukpo. Ichie Nwabueze also thanked Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his magnanimity in the choice of local government chairman and council members.

Dinigitaries at the renaming ceremony included Barr. B.B.M Maduekwe from Umunachi, Engr. Valentine Zimuzo Odogwu from Umunachi, Comrade Chukwurah (Secretary Umudioka Improvement Union), Arc Frank Okonkwo (PG Umunachi Improvement Union), Hon. Chinedu Omeleke ksm, JP (Nze Chinechendo who is Deputy Chairman Dunukofia) and Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze (Ichie Chinemeze N'Ukpo) who represented Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze.


Others were Prince Frank Nwegwu, (PG Nawgu), Igwe Dr Emeka Iluno, Eze Dunu (Igwe of Ifitedunu), Ichie Raphael Akude (Representative of Igwe of Ukpo), Ichie Ekene Anolue, Sir Onyeka Ezika, among others.


Security agencies were represented by SP Babajide Coker (DPO Dunukofia), OC Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dunukofia LGA and Commander Dunukofia Strike Force.

Prince Engr. Arthur Eze, OFR was born on the 25th of November 1948 into the Ukpo Traditional Royalty, Dunukofia Kingdom, Dunukofia LGA, in Anambra State, Nigeria.


Prince Arthur Eze is a Nigerian businessman and the CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, reputed to be the largest privately-owned petroleum exploration and production company in Nigeria. His philanthropy touches every sphere of human endeavour in his home town Ukpo, Dunukofia and beyond.

In a congratulatory message to Prince Athur Eze in 2022, Governor Charles Soludo noted that Prince Arthur Eze remains an accomplished businessman and a philanthropist who has devoted his resources in assisting the less privileged in the society and his immediate community as well as the academia, health and religious institutions.

The Governor stated that he was delighted that Prince Arthur Eze has used his massive investments in the oil and gas sector to contribute to the development of the economy of the state, country and the continent of Africa.
