 Anambra: Idemili South Council Boss Holds Teachers Summit For Basic And Post Basic Schools To Improve And Strengthen Teaching Profession

The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom has Convened a One Day Summit for Basic and Post Basic Schools in Idemili South Council Area.  


The event which was declared open by the Chairperson/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi had in attendance the Member Representing Idemili North Constituency, Anambra State House of Assembly Hon Kingsley Udemezue, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh represented by Mrs Onyeuma Ngozi, the Chairmanship Post Primary School Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Prof Nkechi Ikediugwu ably represented by Mrs Ugochukwu Chidimma, the Chairman Local Government Service Commission Awka, Hon Vincent Ezeaka, Dr Ikechukwu Augustine- Lecturer Department of Guidance and Counseling, Faculty of Education Unizik, Mrs Violet Nwabufor E.S Idemili South, Lady Patricia Nkedilim (JP. FCPA) HLGA Idemili South South, Olieh A.I (JP. FCPA) Head of Personal Management Idemili South, Councilor's 

Declaring the event open, Dr Vera Nwadinobi in her address noted that State Government has been investing wisely and smartly to be able to secure the future of our children. 


She also called for resuscitating the regime of accountability in the schools, including key performance indicators to measure performance and adherence to rules.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Council Boss, Hon Amaka Obi, outlined the need for teachers to improve on their performance in the classroom. 



She maintained that Education is of the topmost priority of Gov Soludo led administration, saying the summit had been called to analyse the current state of education in Idemili South and develop actionable plan to improved and strengthened teaching profession. 


On his part the Member Representing Idemili North, Hon Kingsley Udemezue commended Hon Amaka Obi for convening the summit and her commitment for the betterment of Ndị Idemili South. He remarked that Gov Soludo in his Solution Mantra of a prosperous, livable and smart mega city is in connections between civic engagement and quality education including well-resourced and compensated teachers for good performance, and involve communities in its drive to transform education in the state.


The Guest Speaker Dr Ikechukwu Augustine  charged the teachers be committed to their duties, write books and come up with innovative ideas that would improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools.


In their respective remarks, Barrister Vincent Ezeaka and Mrs Onyeuma Ngozi also recognise the need for a collaborative and cooperative approach to solving the teaching profession, to ensuring an education workforce that is prepared and “poised for the future.


Presentation of certificate of participation to the teachers who took part in the summit climaxed the event.
