Soludo, Oba ji festival 2023 and Anambra’s thriving environment for entertainment, arts and culture

Sad that before now, some of us residents in Anambra state would have to travel to Port-Harcourt, River State to attend their annual Bole Festival, and sometimes, FCT Abuja for the Food Festival, but with the coming of Governor Chukwuma Soludo who has now created a conducive environment for entertainment, art, and sustainable culture to thrive and for people, especially, the young people to live out their dreams, be encouraged, and succeed, AWKA, THE STATE CAPITAL came alive on Saturday, September 23, 2023, following the maiden edition of OBA JI FESTIVAL, pioneered and hosted by Mr. Ozioma Baba Anieto, my brother, kinsman and the illustrious son of Umunnachi in Dunukofia LGA.


Held at the popular Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, our visitors were entertained with natural and cultural beauties and traditional skills and sports. OBA JI FESTIVAL is an annual event designed to promote Igbo culture by showcasing the incredible cultural heritage, diverse art forms, educational experiences, and enormous potential in our state, fostering unity and community engagement while celebrating the NEW YAM FESTIVAL, IRI JI. Different arts and cultural displays featured during the historic event included tourist board sites,  games, and competition from the State Ministry of Tourism, Entertainment, and Culture.


Other side attractions at the event which lasted until midnight were branding for traditional cuisine, indigenous dress competition for both male and female, traditional dance and masquerades, indigenous instrumental display, cultural market, and indigenous manufacturing market led by Tiger Foods Limited, archery display and choral traditional music. 


It is no gainsaying that Anambra is full of life, and young people are utilizing the various opportunities created by Soludo’s administration to dream and succeed. We are collectively building a homeland that is putting the state on the world map, becoming a destination lounge for culture, entertainment, and tourism industry. With the building of the brand new SOLUTION FUN CITY in Awka, the unveiling of the official Tourist Sites Landmarks in the state, and other government policy frameworks on this sector, this administration is building potentials that will outlive this generation, and Oba JI Festival is now birthed to play a key role in fostering cross-cultural appreciation and preserving traditions for future generations.



Long Live Oba Ji Festival, truly, Soludo Is HERE!
