 World Tourism Day : Isuofia Community, Hosts South East Zone Cultural Display 


 Isuofia Community, Aguata Local Government Area, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, hosts a colorful display of Igbo cultural heritage and skill acquisition programme in commemoration of the 2023 United Nations World Tourism Day.


The rich cultural event which was held at Ekwusigo Park Isuofia, in collaboration with Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) and Inter Agency  Committee on Culture and Tourism  Development, South East Zone, attracted Traditional Rulers across the five States in the region, including Igwe Isuofia, His Royal Highness, Colonel CAO Mmouhalu, Igwe Igboukwu, Igwe Owerrizukala, Igwe Omoho from Anambra State: Igwe Uguta, Imo State and Igwe Ubulu, Ebonyi State.


Speaking during the well attended cultural display the Special Guest of Honour and Director General of Nigeria Tourism Development Authority,(NTDA) Folorusho Coker, ably represented by the Zonal Coordinator South East Zone, Ibiloma Shuai noted that this year's

Theme


"Tourism and Investment," is aimed on highlighting the need for more and better targeted investment in tourism, he emphasized that tourism is a pillar of our economy, stressing on the role it  plays in development of our economy.


The Isuofia Community during their welcome address appealed to the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo to assist the community in constructing an amusement park for children in the community, assuring that it will help attract tourists to the community.


On his part, the first Vice President General of Isuofia, Chief Vincent Mmaduabuchukwu, explained that Isuofia was chosen for the event as a result of its rich cultural heritage  and the blacksmithing which Akulu Village of the town is known for, highlighting other reasons as  Ikolo Isuofia and Ngwuru Udodoeke as why the town was chosen and also the choice for building the Regional Office of NTDA in the town over a decade ago.


Highlights of the occasion include, prize awards to winners of cooking competition, display of blacksmithing prowess of the town, cultural dances from different women groups, wrestling and masquerade displays.
