PROF. SOLUDO ATTENDS VALEDICTORY SESSION IN HONOUR OF SLAIN HOUSE MEMBER OKECHUKWU OKOYE

 Anambra Governor, Prof. Soludo Attends Valedictory Session for Slain House Member Okechukwu Okoye

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022  joined the Anambra State House of Assembly, in valedictory session for late Okechukwu Okoye, member representing his Aguata II Constituency, who was gruesomely murdered by kidnappers on May 21, 2022.

Mr Governor who was represented at the emotional session by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, regretted the activities of criminals masquerading as freedom fighters, he assured that the state government is currently flushing them out from the forests, where they are practicing all form of adulatory that is alien to Ndi Anambra.


Prof Soludo while eulogizing the late house member, charged his colleagues to support the state government in the fight against criminality in the state.

In the same vein, Mr Governor prayed to God to give the immediate family the fortitude to mourn their son, husband and father, he also condoled the Isuofia community and  Aguata II Constituency and Anambra State at large for the loss of a refined gentleman, Honorable Okechukwu Okoye, summarizing that "death is a necessary end"

The Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Honorable Uche Okafor PhD described his late colleague as a devote Christian, with mastery of business of the house, he condoled the family and the state at large.

In their various eulogies, the members of the State House of Assembly took turn to narrate their shock on getting the news of the gruesome murder of their colleague, whom each of them described as a practical christian, a choir master and a friend to all.

Earlier, the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, spoke on behalf of Anambra Judiciary, prayed for the repose of the soul of the fallen member while commiserating with his family and the state House members.

Adding their voices to the emotional session, Pius Udoh former Clark of the House, and Okechukwu Aronu, former Whip and House Member Representing Aguata II Constituency, (1999 to 2003) spoke on their personal relationships with late Honorable Okoye, describing him as humble and down to earth.

In his vote of thanks, a brother to the deceased, Brother C Okoye, urged the state government and House members to find justice for his brother, while thanking them for the valedictory session for their colleague.


Highlight of the session was handing over to the family the condolence register opened on behalf of the fallen House member.
