ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT DONATES PALLIATIVES TO FLOOD RAVAGED COMMUNITIES IN IHIALA COUNCIL AREA

 Anambra State Government Donates Palliatives to Flood Ravaged Communities in Ihiala Council Area



Governor Chukwuma Soludo distributed relief materials to families who had been ravaged by flood in Umudara Community of Ihiala. He was represented at the event by Hon Kingsley Obi, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ihiala LGA. The Chairman was accompanied by Hon. Christian Agujiegbe.

At the gathering which was attended by hundreds of affected families, Hon. Kingsley Obi recalled the distressed calls he got from Hon. Helen the councillor of the ward, pleading with him to use his good office to attract government palliatives to her suffering community. 

Hon. Obi wrote to Soludo and made a passionate plea for relief materials. Within a couple of days, Governor Soludo answered. The items included: one live cow, bags of beans, bags of rice, bags of garri, over two hundred tubers of yam and over a hundred cartons of Indomie noodles. The Ihiala LGA Chairman was further moved by the depth of suffering within the community as a result of the flood. He went on to make a personal cash donation of two hundred thousand naira to the community. The community was appreciative of the gesture and sang the praises of Hon. Obi. They also prayed for his success in piloting the affairs of Ihiala LGA.

Mrs. Ngozi Okwuorah, a member of the community thanked Governor Soludo for providing the relief materials, while also thanking Hon. Kingsley Obi for his efforts in attracting the palliatives. Catherine Muokwe, a farmer lauded the goodwill of Hon. Obi and APGA for ensuring that the suffering community farmers now had a reason to smile. The councillor, Hon. Helen also thanked Hon. Obi for promptly responding to her cry for help.
