In a bid to tackle unemployment among women, Idemili south local government under the leadership of Hon.(Mrs) Amaka Obi(Iyom Idemili) has trained over 150 women in skills acquisition program. While speaking at the graduation event held at the council secretariat, Hon. Obi reiterated that the government is tackling unemployment through different skills acquisition. Anambra Women Affairs Ministry, Takes Delivery of Dignity Kits from UNFPA

The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has taken delivery of Dignity Kits from United Nations Population Funds(UNFPA), following the call from the state government for development partners, charitable organisations and public-spirited individuals to donate toward the needs of victims of flood in the state.  The event which took place on Thursday, November 17, at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare Awka, saw UNFPA hand over about 500 dignity kits to the Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Madam Ify Obinabo as part of the package to respond to the needs of women and girls affected by the flood crisis. Appreciating the wonderful gesture of UNPAF, Madam Ify Obinabor assured them that the consignments will get to the appropriate persons.  Health Ministry partners WHO, CHAI to train Medical Doctors on Cervical Cancer prevention, treatment too By Chukwudi Nwauba Anambra State Ministry of Health in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Clinton Assess Health Initiative (CHAI) has trained Medical Doctors on Cervical Cancer prevention and treatment. Dr. Afam Obidike said that cervical cancer is a silent killer that can be prevented through early screening, detection and treatment. ``One may not know about the disease until it starts to spread. We are working with the WHO to help us with the HPV vaccines by next year so that our people will be vaccinated against the disease. ``Just like I said, early screening and detection are important to reducing the cervical cancer burden and cervical cancer is one form of cancer that can be prevented. ``The good news is that early screening tests, treatment will be done at Ekwulobia, Enugwu-Ukwu, and Umueri General Hospitals and at some designated Primary Healthcare Centre

The Transition Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon.(Mrs) Amaka Obi(Iyom Idemili) participated in the 2022 Leadership Training and Grand Installation of the First Lady of Anambra State, Dr.(Mrs) Nonye Soludo as Grand Patroness by the National Council of Women Society(NCWS). It was a great gathering of Women that matters in the society as Idemili South Mayor witnessed the event in a grand style. The theme of the event is "Nigeria Women in Leadership- Bridge Builders".
