Children’s Day is a day recognized to celebrate children - Amaka Obi
It is celebrated across the world though on various calendar dates in different countries.
In Nigeria, Children’s Day is celebrated on May 27. It was established as a holiday in 1964, and it is a public holiday for primary and secondary school pupil's.
In commemorating this year’s day, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom, said investing in our future means investing in our children.
She made this known at the 2023 Children's Day Celebration held at Idemili South Local Government Headquarters, Ojoto.
In her Children’s Day address, Hon Amaka said: “As we mark Children’s Day, I join millions of parents, guardians and care givers across the country to celebrate our children, our future and unique gifts from God.”
She further said: As parents we should have it in mind that our children are paramount and all our action should geared towards the best interest of the child. She noted that in the People's Manifesto, that Education is one of the key priority of Gov Soludo led administration.
The event featured March past, cultural dance and presentation of cash prize to various schools that performed well in the march past and cultural dance.
In her vote of thanks, Ms Anenyeonwu Ngozi of Central School Ojoto-uno thanked Hon Amaka for celebrating the pupils and students of Idemili South, commended her leadership style and prayed for God's blessing upon her.

(DIO Ojoto), CSC Onyeka Sanuer (NSCDC), ASI B C Chidume (DIO Immigration), DLIEH A.I JP FCPA HPM Idemili South Local Government, Nkedilim Patricia Amaka HLGA, Rev Chrisken Ihenatuoha–Officer Chaplain of Oba, Hon Nzubechukwu Ibe, Hon Uche Ubad, Hon Coach Ubakaeze Ofoma, Ward Councilors and a host of many others.
