.....Sensitises School Girls On Menstrual Hygiene

The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Hon Obi Amaka Iyom, has organized a One Day Symposium and/or discussion on Sexual Reproductive Health and Menstrual Health Education for over three hundred (300) students from different schools in the council area.

In her welcome address, Hon Amaka, said she is delighted to welcome the people at Idemili South Local Government Headquarters Ojoto. 

She noted that it is a collective effort to consolidate on the Gov Soludo Solution Government which is amied at a prosperous, livable and smart homeland. 


Advocating for the Girl Child training on Reproductive Health And Menstrual Health Education, the Council Boss seized the opportunity to sensitise the school girls on menstrual hygiene. 

Lending his voice to the topic; Advancing the Girl Child Sexual And Reproductive Health And Rights, an APGA Chieftain Hon Ikenna Iyiegbu noted that Education guarantees the girl child a voice, bright future in essence should be properly guided to avoid Child Marriage, Gender-Based Violence, Trafficking and Out of school.


In his brief remark, the Member Elect for Idemili South Constituency, Sir Ebuka Igwe Esq. KSC.JP commended Hon Amaka Obi for organizing the session for Idemili South students. He adviced the students to be committed with their studies.


Giving her keynote address, wife of Anambra State Governor ably represented by Barr Mrs Lizzy Anyaonu who doubles as the Legal Adviser of Women Initiative For Greater Anambra (WIGA) cautioned the girls from engaging in acts that could lead to unwanted pregnancies emphasizing that their menstrual cycle was yet to be regular. While admonishing the stakeholders who included parents and teachers to be more caring, Mrs Anyaonu called them to break the culture of silence and make the girls see menstruation as natural and not a taboo.


Four of the students, Ozowara Chidinu of St. John International Group of School Oba,  Agulonu Chinemerem Vivian of St. John Secondary School Akwu-ukwu, Otubo Rejoice of Glory Royal Academy Awka-Etiti and Okafor Chinenye of St. Marks Secondary School Ojoto were awarded Scholarship by Hon Amaka Obi.


The students received a hand book on menstrual hygiene, menstrual sanitary packs and Certificate of Participation from the Transition Committee Chairman.


Dignitaries present during the session were Sir Ebuka Igwe Esq, Hon Ikenna Iyiegbu, Hon Omaka Anthony– Deputy Mayor of Idemili South Local Government, Ms Juliet Okolo, Hon. Uche Maduekwe, Pst Favour Emekekwe, Barr Elizabeth Anyaonu, Lady Esther Chidera Ibelegbu, Hon. Mrs Uju Anaekwe, Hon Lady Chinwe Irene Mgbajiaka, Hon Mrs Bene Nwakile, Hon Mrs Ijeoma SunnyEgbuna  ( IjeSunny), Hon Chief Mrs Chinwe Aniemenam, Mrs Rose Mofunya. Mrs Edozie Blessing, Mrs Ike Ifeoma, Hon Mrs Ekwy Appo Udeeze, Mrs Ogochukwu Okonkwo, Ward Councilors, Idemili South Local Government and Ward Executives and a host of many others.
