Soludo to Anambra Residents: We Must Come Together and Chase Touts Away, and Live in Peace

Soludo to Anambra Residents: We Must Come Together and Chase Touts Away, and Live in Peace

By Izuchukwu Adichie

For two decades now, commercial activities in Onitsha Metropolitan have immensely diminished because of the despicable activities of touts on residents, traders, visitors, and commuters. From operation “Ndi Mpiawa Azu to FIAT”, it seems that the menace of touts can never be abolished due to illegal tax collections, wanton harassment, incessant damage to people’s property and goods, pick-pocketing, and pilfering particularly around Upper Iweka, Nkpor Junction, HeadBridge axis, among others.

But with the coing of Soludo as a Governor, it is a thing of joy seeing him leading the war in front against touting and their aged-long despicable activities. We know Soludo as a man who likes taking on tough jobs and delivering on record time. When he assumed office, and criminals had taken over seven (7) local governments in the Anambra South including Ogbaru, he declared a manhunt and took the war to their hideouts. The rest is history as residents now sleep with their eyes closed, and host and attend functions in their communities.

Soludo is particularly intentional and confident about restoring the sanity of Onitsha and its environment because of the economic fortunes of the state. Onitsha is the hub for most business activities in Africa which includes the Fish market. He wants buying, selling, and commuting in the state to be pleasurable, and for residents and visitors to live in peace and harmony. With the formation and formal launching of an anti-touting squad, and declaring an unprecedented manhunt for the touts in the state, we are particularly happy that this will bring a lasting solution to their menace.

May Anambra Continue to succeed, Amen!
