 Anambra Commissioner for Local Government,  Nwabunwanne  Commiserates with Family of the Slain President General of Umuoji


The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Matters, Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, on Monday, February 26,  2024 paid condolence visit to the family of the slain President General of Umuoji Community Idemili North Local Government Area, Chief Sylvester Onyima. 

Mr Commissioner was accompanied to the visit alongside the National President of Association of Anambra State Town Unions, (ASATU) Barr. Akpudo Titus  and Former Transition Chairman of Onitsha South LGA, Chief  Asoanya Emeka  who also hails from the community.

Mr Nwabunwanne, while conducting first hand assessment of the crime scene met with the wife and other family members of the deceased PG, restated the State Government's commitment to unmasking those behind the heinous crime, while assuring them of support of the Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

In his condolence message, Mr.  Commissioner underscored the state government's commitment to prioritizing the security of lives and properties in Anambra State, noting that Nigeria Police, led by the Divisional Police Officer from the Ogidi police division, have apprehended primary suspects who are currently undergoing interrogation, with investigations ongoing. 

The Commissioner emphasized the vital role of community cooperation in providing valuable information. Chief Sylvester Onyima, renowned for his tireless dedication to community development, leaves behind a remarkable legacy. Our heartfelt prayers are with his family as they navigate this irreplaceable loss.
