GOVERNOR SOLUDO WELCOMES WIFE OF IGP, ELIZABETH EGBETOKUN, DESCRIBES WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AS BEDROCK OF THE SOCIETY

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has described the women as pivotal in building a liveable and prosperous society.
Governor Soludo gave the disclosure when the wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.
Governor Soludo warmly welcomed Dr. Egbetokun and her delegation, which included wives of senior police officers such as: Mrs. Sokari-Pedro Bolanle Bekky, Mrs. Jullyette Oladimeji, Mrs. Antoinette Obiuwevbi, Mrs. Maryam Yusuf Aliyu, Mrs. Chidi Nzota Angela, Mrs. Charity Hassan, Mrs. Joy Amore, Mrs. Nneka Ebede, Mrs. Oyikansola Adesanya, Mrs. Gloria Boniface, Mrs. Sarah Nanjul, and Mrs. Esther Tanko.
The Governor expressed his appreciation for the work of POWA and their sacrifices in support of police officers.
"Police officers die in their course of duty, and we must appreciate this great sacrifice," Governor Soludo said. "I'm also impressed by POWA's work, and I extend my gratitude to the IGP for his support during these challenging times."
He commended the IGP wife for the empowerment programme, disclosing his excitement when women are empowered.
"When you empower a woman, you empower a society" Governor Soludo emphasized
The Governor also spoke about state police which is currently being mulled by the federal government to address the rising insecurity across the nation
Governor Soludo also highlighted some of his administration's recent achievements, including free antenatal care and delivery services, free education, and the recruitment of 5000 teachers and additional 3000 that is in the process of being recruited, among others.
The Governor pointed out that the essence of service is to touch lives saying that everyone has to make each day count while you can!
"Public service is the greatest form of philanthropy because it allows you to impact lives in ways impossible on an individual level". He further said
Earlier, Dr. Egbetokun expressed her desire to partner Anambra State government and thanked Governor Soludo for the warm reception.
Presentation of an award as the "Face of Hope" in recognition of Governor Soludo's leadership prowess formed the highpoint of the event which also had the AIG zone 13, Godwin Aghaulor, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, DCP Kaila, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi in attendance.
