 ASATU Youth Wing Inaugurats Healthy Living Advocates in 179 Communities in Anambra State 

    unveils Healthy Living advocay handbook

In its commitment to raise Healthy Living Advocates in the 179 Communities in Anambra State, the Youth Wing of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, organized a one day seminar for lady organizers and youth leaders in the State aimed at disseminating the Healthy Living message to the people at the grassroot through the Healthy Living Advocates.


Speaking during the inauguration of the Healthy Living Advocates and unveiling of the healthy living advocay handbook, held at the ASATU Secretariat Old Government House Awka, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, the National President of the youth based association, Comrade Ken Okoli, explained that the Healthy Living Advocates will play key role in using youth friendly language to pass the message of healthy living to the youths at the grassroot, emphasizing the need for young people to live a healthy lifestyle and also spread the message, he highlighted the critical role the newly unveiled handbook will play in the advocacy for Healthy Living in our various communities.


On her part, the keynote speaker, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ify Obinabo, charged the participants to collaborate in their various communities to spread the message of good governance of the present government in Anambra State, declaring that Soludo's administration has done so much for women in the State which include free education, free antenatal and free delivery policies of the government.


She added that the wife of the governor Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo, has made life better for Umunwanyi Anambra through her pet project Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, urging them to throw their weight behind the first family of the State in the forth coming election in order to continue to benefit from the laudable initiative of the government towards women in the next four years.

Others who spoke in the well attended seminar, include the representative of the sponsor, Igwe Bennett Emeka, Okebo II, of Umueri and Uju Okoye, Head of Reproductive Health, Ministry of Health Anambra State, who highlighted the impact of the governor's free antenatal and free delivery policies, which she said has seen over 19,767 babies delivered in the State health facilities free of cost to the parents since the announcement of the policy in September 2023. Also the State APGA Woman Leader, Mrs Esther Onyekesi was represented by Hon. Chinweogo Uba, Deputy leader Anaocha Congress of Councillors, the Councillor representing Ichida ward II, who delivered a message of support to the Lady Organizers.

The seminar was concluded with a workshop aimed at training the ladies on the rudiments of leadership in their various communities by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
