Be a Shining Light in Your Community, ASATU Youth President Urges Community Youth Leaders

The President General of the Youth Wing of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU Youth) Comrade Ken Okoli, has urged youth leaders in the 179 communities in the State to be the light shining in their communities, to have a new mindset and prepare for higher leadership position.
Speaking during a Two-day Leadership Workshop organized by the youth based association in collaboration with the office of the Accountant General of the Local Government held on 5th and 6th June 2025 at ASATU Secretariat, Old Government House Awka, Okoli explained that the Training workshop was organized to prepare the community youth leaders for higher leadership position and to take responsibility in deepening the key pillars of Governor Soludo's administration, noting that the capacity building is to highlight the role of community youth leaders in community development.

While declaring the workshop open, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, commended the organizers for putting up the programme, highlighting that it is time to apprise what they have done and know if it is time to change approach.
Dr. Ibezim urged the youths to make sacrifice while in power declaring that they will only be remembered by the good works they engaged while serving, assuring that the governor has youth friendly programmes including One Youth Two Skills initiative, he charged the youths on integrity, summing that good work comes with more work.

On his part, the keynote speaker, Rt Honorable Ejike Okechukwu, (Ogbuefi na Ụkọ efi) Member representing Anaocha II Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, anchored his speech on the role of Citizenship Institution in Building a Society for Common Goods, imploring the youths to involve philanthropists in community development, advising not to leave everything for the government to do. He regretted the destructive influence of Yahoo Boys, wondering why Anambra youths have abandoned the famous Boy Boy Business Training model that empowered the youths in the past.
Others who spoke in the electrifying interactive session include the members of Anambra State Executive Council, among them are the Commissioner for Lands, Prof Ofonze Amaucheazi and his Youth Development counterpart, Mr Patrick Agha Mba. Others include the President General of Orafite and Civil Society icon Comrade Chris Azu.
The highlight of the occasion was an Educative leadership workshop delivered by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) which focused on the rudimentary of leadership at the grassroot.
